THE DEITY OF CHRIST JESUS

BY DON BANTUM

So how do we know that Jesus is God? Simple, the Bible tells us so:

Matthew 1:23. "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" —which means,"God with us."

Now check this out, if this doesn't explain it real clearly, I don't know what will? We clearly see in the very first book, in the very first sentence of the Bible God say's:

Genesis 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Then here in John's epistle, He's saying that Jesus created everything. If that doesn't prove God and Jesus are indeed one in the same, what will? See the God Head exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these three are one and the same person, God!

John 1: 1.In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2. He was with God in the beginning. 3. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
6. There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

10. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—13. children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.14.The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

And in still another place:

John 20: 28.Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" 29. Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Matthew 16: 15. "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" 16. Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17. Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

Here again in:

Titus 2: 11. For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13. while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14. who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

And again in:

2 Peter 1:1. Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:

And here the writer of Hebrews say's in:

Hebrews 1:3. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

And on more them one occasion, Jesus Himself claimed to be God.

Matthew 26: 62. Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" 63. But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God." 64. "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied." But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."

Did the Jews at that time know what Jesus was saying about Himself?

John 10: 31. Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, 32. but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" 33. "We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

Of course if you ARE God, you aren't blaspheming at all, you’re just telling it like it is. Jesus Is God. There are, of course, many scriptures which attest to the fact that Jesus is God, but those shown herein are more than enough to prove this truth to anyone who has come to know and see it for themselves. Concerning those who don't believe, if Jesus were to come down through the roofs of their homes and stand before them and declare it to them, they still would refuse believe. As Jesus said in;

John 20; 29. Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Remember, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. God bless you all.
